Poultry Health Class Jan. 8

ChickClass announcement: “Poultry Health Management for Pasture and Backyard  Producers” on Saturday, January 8, 1-4 p.m. in the Just Food Co-op Community Room, 516 Water Street South, Northfield.

Cost: $12 ($10 for Just Food Co-op owners.) Pre-registration is required by January 2.  You can register by phone (507) 650-0106 or with a cashier in the store. Minimum 20, maximum 45.

Join Rob Porter, veterinarian and poultry specialist at the University of Minnesota Diagnostic Lab, for a  workshop on managing disease in outdoor poultry production systems. Dr. Porter will discuss the basic anatomy of chickens and turkeys, common diseases of poultry, and prevention and treatment of disease.  Participants will observe the dissection of a chicken and turkey to understand the disease symptoms and ways to treat. This event is co-sponsored by Just Food Co-op, the Cannon River Chapter of the Sustainable Farming Association, and the University of Minnesota Extension Small Farms Team.  Snacks supplied by Just Food Deli.
